An Evaluation Report on the Advocacy Efforts in the Field of Gender-Sensitive Legislations by the '@NGED' Members

During the last trimester of 2010, CAWTAR began the preparation of an evaluation report on the advocacy efforts in the field of gender-sensitive legislations by the members of CAWTAR and experts and media professionals from gender-sensitive and development institutions and organizations.

Arab regional forum on democratic transition and achievement of full citizenship for women and youth

CAWTAR organized a forum on democratic transition and full citizenship for women and youth from 19-21 December, 2011 in Tunis.Representatives from the civil society from 16 Arab countries participated in the forum to discuss the political and economic challenges facing the Arab world during the period of democratic transition, in addition to discuss the opportunities and challenges offered by  the new media and social networks .

The 2010 Anged annual meeting will be held in partnership with GERPA initiative and will take place in Chicago from October 15-19, 2010.

NGED :
The Arab Network for Gender and Development)

NGED is a regional network established in 2002. It is funded by

the World Bank’s Development Grant Facility (DGF), in addition to supplementary funds committed by other donors to cover some of its activities. Its membership consists of: research centers, governmental institutions, NGOs, , journalists, media professionals, trainers, experts, parliamentarians as well as regional and international organizations from 19 Arab Countries (Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Sultanate Oman, Syria, Tunisia, Qatar, The United Arab Emirates, and Yemen).

@NGED objectives are mainly: to mobilize regional expertise and resources to address priorities in the field of gender and development; advocate the use of a robust analytical base in policy making and advancement of gender equality through media; contribute to the formulation of policy recommendations which take into consideration the context of the Arab region; promote findings of regional policy-oriented research including CAWTAR’s Arab Women Development Reports in the international, regional and national levels; and Provide a unique space for dialogue on gender issues.
