UN-INSTRAW and CAWTAR announce winners in photography and poster competitions

CAWTAR and UN-INSTRAW are proud to present the winners in the photography and poster competitions launched within the program “Strengthening women’s leadership and participation in politics and decision-making in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.’’ The prizes for best photography went to Morocco and Tunisia and the prizes for best posters to Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

 

The photography competition had as its theme: ‘’Reinforcement of female leadership and the participation of women in political life and decision-making in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.’’ The jury decided to give the first prize in the photo competition, and the amount of 600 USD to the Tunisian journalist Abderrouf Ben Romdhane, from the Agence Tunis Afrique Presse. The second prize, and the amount of 400 USD, went to Akil Salah, journalist for the Moroccan newspaper Al Monaataf and founder of a photography forum.

The prize for best posters, specifically created for the competition, with prize-sum of 1300 USD , went, ex-equo to the Moroccan association Idil and to the young designer Mr. Makram Oueslati, from Tunisia.

The prize for best posters already used in previous communication campaigns, with prize sum of 1400 USD, went, ex-equo, to the Moroccan Association Ennakhil and to Rafik Rezaki, from Algeria.

These competitions have been realized in the framework of the participative strategy of the project, aimed to involve different actors of the civil society interested to the issue of women’s political participation.

The jury was composed by Ms. Fathia Maatoug and Mr. Mohamed Tobbi, from Algeria, Mr.  Younès Moujahid from Morocco and Ms. Hamida El Bour and Ms. Madame Emna Soula from Tunisia. The photos and posters will be used within the program to promote activities, seminars and for publications and web site.

The program for political participation in the Maghreb is conducted by UN-INSTRAW in partnership with the Centre for Arab Women Training and Research (CAWTAR).
