Since its inception in 1993, CAWTAR has been at the forefront of initiatives that promote the improvement of the Arab woman’s role and status throughout the Middle East and MENA regions. Through a variety of programs, including research and publication of Arab Women Development Reports (AWDRs), training, networking and partnerships, media and communication, and documentation and databases, the Center has encouraged policy dialogue on a wide range of topics concerning Arab women. Due to the essential relevance of economics to all aspects of life, CAWTAR recognizes the critical importance of female understanding of and participation in the economic sphere, which it analyzed in its first AWDR on “Globalization and Arab Women’s Economic Participation” in 2001.
