The Centre of Arab Women for Training and Research "CAWTAR", and The United Nations Development Fund for Women "UNIFEM" - Office of the Arab have the pleasure to announce the results of the three best posters selected within the competition launched by the joint project “Combat Violence against Women in the Arab Countries”
The First price returned to Mr. Yussef Abdel-Nabi (24 years) Jordan US$ 2500, while the second prize worth $ 1500 U.S., returned to Mr.George Yazbek (22 years) from Lebanon and the third prize of U.S. $ 1000 , went to Ali al-Moussawi (25 years) from Bahrain.
CAWTAR has received 66 posters from 10 Arab countries: Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco and Yemen.
It is worth mentioning that the competition had attracted participations from inmates in penitentiaries structures. The organizers decided to assign a special award to the best poster to the efforts of rehabilitation and reintegration of the prisoners in various community activities.
It is expected that posters will be used in advocacy and media campaigns to combat violence against women in a number of Arab countries and will be published in a catalogue.
The Jury members are: Ms. Aida Toma president of “Together Against Violence Association”, Palestine, Ms. Ghida Anani, program coordinator from “Enough violence and Exploitation”, Lebanon, Ms Lubna Zoubi Technical coordinator UNIFEM, Jordan, Ms Monia Belafia media expert and Journalist, Morocco, Mr. Ziad Atiri director of communication in the “National Board for Family and Population”, Tunisia , Mr. Radwan Argui professional designer, Tunisia and Mr. Ahmed Mahmoud Journalist in “ Al-Ahram newspaper”, Egypt.
The competition targeted students of colleges, institutes of Arts and young designers in the Arab region, in the frame of producing sensitization and advocacy tools for the promotion of human rights of women and girls and to combat all forms of Gender Based Violence.
